In January 2006, Huawei Mobile Softswitch overcame the "heavy traffic" during the Hajj in Mecca. STC (Saudi Telecom Company) normally sees an increase of more than 16 times in mobile traffic during the Hajj period. Huawei Mobile Softswitch networks performed well and avoided communication interruption during Hajj period. The success of the communication guarantee during Hajj season is yet another milestone of the large scale commercial application of Huawei's softswitch equipment.

In Mecca, mobile network suffered from traffic congestion and MSC overloading for heavy traffic peak of Hajj every year. STC, the biggest telecom operator in Saudi Arabia, selected Huawei Mobile Softswitch to optimize its GSM network from 2004 to pull through the Hajj traffic peak. One of the largest VMSC is configured with 1.1 million subscribers under the traffic mode of 0.04 Erl per subscriber.

In November 2005, Huawei Mobile Softswtich also overcame the severe "heavy traffic" during the Ramadan month of this year. The excellent performance in STC network fully demonstrated the high capacity and performance of Huawei Mobile Softswitch. Huawei GSM Mobile Softswitch has been commercially deployed in more than 60 countries serving over 100 million subscribers.
