Magyar Telekom is the largest full-service telecom operator in Hungary and a holding company of Deutsch Telecom in Hungary (with 59.2% of the shares). T-COM, a subordinate of Magyar Telekom, enjoys the largest share (80%) of the fixed network market in Hungary; T-Mobile, another subordinate, enjoys the largest share (45%) of the mobile network market in Hungary. The network covers Hungary and the neighboring countries such as Romania and Macedonia. Bearing in mind the concept of "not simply the best but legendary", Magyar Telekom serves for tens of thousands of subscribers in Europe.
Customer requirements for developing convergent services
As a traditional telecom operator, Magyar Telekom is now confronted with severe challenges. The fixed network market takes on a negative increase, and there's an obvious trend of mobile network services replacing fixed network services. But, the mobile network market is tending towards saturation and thus the developing space is limited. The furious competition in the telecom market results in sharp charge decline. ARPU has been decreasing several years in a roll and is going to fall further. Meanwhile, due to the complex architecture of traditional networks and varied types of network devices, carriers need a great number of staff for daily maintenance; therefore, the OPEX remains high all the time.
With the advantage of full-service provision and "T-brand" series, Magyar Telekom is determined to develop broadband and mobile services, and to research in the fixed & mobile convergence (FMC) to promote its core competitiveness. IMS is an ideal structure for future all-IP networks. It supports FMC well and effectively reduces OPEX and CAPEX, providing subscribers with convergent services to increase service incomes. It is undoubtedly the perfect choice for Magyar Telekom.
