Since its launch in 2001, Digicel has become the fastest growing wireless telecommunications operator in the Caribbean, renowned for competitive rates, unbeatable coverage, superior customer care, a wide variety of products and services, and state-of-the-art handsets. It is the largest GSM operator in the region, ensuring the region is continually at the cutting edge of wireless communications. Digicel is now the first GSM operator in the region to simultaneously offer GSM and CDMA services.

Huawei has been awarded a CDMA2000 1x EV-DO contract and as a result CDMA travelers coming to the region will now be able to roam on Digicel's network and experience the high level roaming service. As an initial stage the CDMA project is being introduced to five of Digicel's 22 markets including Jamaica, Bermuda, Aruba, Cayman Islands and Barbados.

Thanks to the understanding to the coverage regions, Huawei effectively and fast guarantees the implementation of this project. In this project, Huawei is adopting its Industry-leading CDMA2000 outdoor macro BTS in large quantities, which enables the convenient deployment since only power supply and transmission resource need to be connected to the cabinets, making the construction of equipment rooms and the installation and debugging of auxiliaries unnecessary. This solution fully satisfies customers with its capability to deploy network and provide services much more quickly.
