Tibet is one of the most complex environments in the world, featuring endless chains of mountains and rough landforms. To deliver communication services to herdsmen in remote areas, China Telecom (Tibet Branch) constructed a CDMA 450MHz network using Huawei equipment. This network covers six municipal areas, providing MMS, SMS and 1X data service. The network was launched on January 2003. Up to September 2006, the subscribers have reached 300,000 and the ARPU increased rapidly.
