Ensuring you a brilliant future for Mobile TV
|
Mobile multimedia broadcast service including mobile TV has become an interesting service for the subscribers. Mobile TV has been widely used worldwide and there are more than 30 commercial networks providing mobile TV. According to the forecast of Strategy Analytics, the revenue of mobile TV products in the world will reach USD5 billion in 2006 and USD30 billion in 2010.
MBMS (Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service) is the most advanced mobile TV standard in the industry and allows network operators to provide MBMS mobile TV services with only software upgrade to their existing UMTS/HSPA networks, which saves additional investment in radio frequency resources. Thus, mobile TV services can be rolled out with relatively low costs compared with other mobile TV standards.
Launched by Huawei in 2006, CMB (Cell Multimedia Broadcast), shares many features with MBMS and is a cost-effective end–to-end cell Multimedia service solution. In May 2006, Huawei's CMB technology helped PCCW launch and subsequently commercially deploy the world's first broadcast real-time TV over 3G Network.

Based on the commercial CMB technology, Huawei's MBMS solution adopts special PTP (Point-to-Point ) and PTM ( Point-to-Multipoint ) technologies, enabling a single frequency to bear more than a dozen mobile TV channels and helping operators to develop services including multimedia advertisements, free and premium TV channels and sending group multimedia messages.
