Minimize backbone DWDM network CAPEX and OPEX

Ultra long haul DWDM technology, as a key enabler to reduce the CAPEX of DWDM backbone networks, has been widely used all over the world. With the global service and network transformation trend, new challenges are posed for backbone DWDM networks.
Huawei provides both innovative ULH and UHC solutions with ROADM capabilities. These solutions can be used on different backbone application situations to minimize backbone DWDM network CAPEX and OPEX for our customers.
With the flourishing of IP-based multimedia services, such as VoIP, video, online gaming and P2P applications, the demands for backbone bandwidth are increasing explosively. Operators need not only ultra long haul transmission network, but also ultra high capacity transmission network. It is a big technical challenge to satisfy both of these requirements simultaneously. Another big challenge is how to deal with 40G in DWDM backbone networks.
Besides its requirement for huge bandwidth, IP-service is also unpredictable. This poses higher requirements, such as flexible grooming ability, rapid service provision and minimum OPEX , on the bearer network. Simultaneously, more and more routers are mesh interconnected directly by light path, reducing the need for expensive intermediate OEO devices. An optical layer with reconfigurable capability is thus a requisite.
