Huawei OptiX OSN6800/3800 is OTN/ASON-based intelligent multiservice WDM platform that enables network operators to migrate from traditional voice-oriented to next generation data-oriented transport network. It is designed for network operators which require a flexible, cost-effective system that will multiplex, transport and switch high-speed data, storage, video, and voice applications. It provides a single, cost effective, managed platform supporting multiple services, network topologies, and transparency protocols in metro and regional networks.

OSN6800/3800 incorporates the multiple next generation network technologies such as G.709 OTN, ROADM, tunable and pluggable optics, ASON/GMPLS, 40G, data switching, ODB capability to support most flexible, cost effective and data-optimized optical transport infrastructure.

OSN6800/3800 provides full supports for G.709 OTN that covers the overhead, mapping, FEC, multiplexing, cross-connection, management, supervisory, etc.
A distinguished characteristic of OSN6800/3800 from traditional WDM is its End-to-End provisioning by implementing G.709 OTN. So OSN6800/3800 not only serves as WDM for transport capacity extension, but also as multi-wavelength optical network (OTN) which provides End-to-End grooming. (Multiplexing vs. networking)

Especially, as carrier-class Ethernet transport platform, OSN6800/3800 combines the advantages of ROADM, Any ADM and LAN switch capability to support optical and electronically reconfiguration to address uncertainty in traffic patterns and capacity.
