Based on its previous practices in and in-depth understanding of multi-service bearer technologies, China Unicom is fully aware that once the size of an IP bearer network reaches a certain level, it is imperative to consider monitoring and managing it globally. As China Unicom's strategic partner for transformation, Huawei blends its rich experiences in IP bearer network development with China Unicom's solid foundation in operation and maintenance, to devise a total solution to monitor and manage IP bearer networks for China Unicom.

To ensure the broadband network can efficiently deliver multiple services, QSC, in February 2006, organized a four-month comparative test on their products from a number of equipment vendors. Following a series of demonstrations and tests, QSC finally established a strategic partnership with Huawei in June 2006, to jointly build their IP broadband network throughout Germany.

At present, the cost-effectiveness, security and confidentiality features of the MPLS VPN can no longer meet enterprise needs. Some new contents need to be added to the VPN in order to guarantee business developments. A simple method is to strengthen the carrier's service platform so that it can help improve operation and maintenance efficiency and provide differentiated services.

To March 2007, all the core network projects of the CNGI model project undertaken by different carriers have passed the check and acceptance of the state. For the various parties of the CNGI project, the next task will be how to further make use of the advantages of IPv6 and transfer services such as 3G, NGN, IPTV and network interaction to the next generation network with IPv6 as the core.

China Mobile adopts the solutions and devices of Huawei on the IP bearer network. It makes use of the concept of IP telecom network construction and integrates the traditional telecom network technologies and IP technologies into the network. It solves problems related to reliability and QoS of VoIP network in terms of service planning, network design and key technology support.

Through this project, the number of suppliers of IP MAN core equipment of Beijing Netcom has increased from one to two. Etisalat formally announced that the network has to be upgraded and expanded by using the IP bearer network solution recommended by Huawei in April 2005.
