Nandan Mer is Executive Vice President, Division President Japan for Mastercard and has overall responsibility for Mastercard’s operations in Japan. He is focused on deepening business alliances with the company’s customer base in Japan to enhance Mastercard’s brand awareness and promote the growing usage and acceptance of Mastercard payment solutions in this key market.
Mr. Mer joined Mastercard in 2010 as Group Executive, Global Consumer Credit. He then took on the role of Group Executive of Loyalty Solutions, based in London three years ago, leading the expansion, differentiation and deployment of the company’s loyalty solutions to grow the business’ presence to 16 markets. Prior to joining Mastercard, Mr. Mer held several banking roles leading consumer, commercial and investment banking businesses in South Asia, Middle East, Europe and Africa.

At this year’s Forum, Mr. Mer will share Mastercard’s vision for a world beyond cash, enabling commerce for every device, and advancing safety security in the digital world. He will share details about how the company is bringing convenient at-home, in-store and on-the-go mobile solutions to life.
He will also discuss the role of innovation in payments in building the cities of the future, sharing insights on how governments and businesses can work together to build connected cities of the future with a focus on the role payments can play in smart city development.
