Director General, GSMA
Mats Granryd is Director General of the GSMA and a Member of its Board. In this role, he leads the GSMA in supporting its global membership through a range of industry programs, advocacy initiatives and industry-convening events.
Mr. Granryd brings to the GSMA a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success across the highly dynamic mobile industry. Before joining the GSMA, Mr. Granryd was President and CEO of Tele2, one of Europe’s fastest-growing telecom operators.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Granryd spent 15 years in a variety of leadership roles at Ericsson, most recently as Head of Northern Europe and Central Asia. While at Ericsson, he also led the North West Europe, India, CDMA and North Africa units, as well as the global customer accounts for Vodafone and Bharti. Before joining Ericsson, he was a management consultant in telecom strategies at ARRIGO and Andersen Consulting.
At the 2016 Global Mobile Broadband Forum, Mr. Granryd will share his insights on the state of mobile industry, which now connects nearly 4.8 billion subscribers globally, a figure set to reach 5.6 billion people in 2020. Mr. Granryd’s presentation will explore the impact of mobile in three key areas – technology, economy and society – and its role in connecting everyone and everything to a better future.
