Huawei Cooperates with Top Global Operators to Explore the Future of 5G


Telecom operators play the leading role in the next-generation of mobile communications innovation. Over the past decades, Huawei has established close partnership with the world's top operators for technical innovations. At this early stages of 5G innovation, their mutual trusts and confidence once again bring Huawei these leading mobile operators together to explore the possibilities of 5G.

Huawei and the Next Generation Mobile Network (NGMN) have collaborated to research the market demands for 5G, define scenarios for 5G, and verify 5G technologies. Recently, Huawei has also announced its cooperation with many of the world's top operators, including China Mobile, NTT DoCoMo in Japan, LG U+ in South Korea, KT, Vodafone in Europe, Deutsche Telekom, SingTel, MegaFon in Russia, and Etisalat in the Middle East. In December 2014, Huawei signed an agreement with the Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo for a trial collaboration of 5G. Both parties agreed to conduct a joint 5G outdoor test to verify the basic and key technologies related to the new air interface.

In June 2015, Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 5G with China Mobile for strategic cooperation in key 5G technologies.

In June 2015, Huawei signed an MoU on 5G with Vodafone in London to start a joint test of new 5G technologies.

In July 2015, Huawei signed an MoU on 5G with LG U+ in South Korea to jointly develop 5G technologies.

In November 2014, Huawei signed an MoU on 5G with MegaFon in Russia and planned to launch a 5G pre-commercial network in 2018, which will provide the 2018 World Cup with top communication technologies.

In March 2014, Huawei signed an MoU on 5G with Etisalat and planned to launch a 5G network for commercial use during the World Expo 2020.

In November 2014, Huawei signed an MoU with SingTel to start 5G innovation projects.
