Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, established its first office in Latin America in Brazil in 1999. Today, Huawei is headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico and serves more than 50 operators in the region with leading solutions including 3G, IMS, NGN, DWDM, GSM, application and software, WIMAX, and CDMA.

Corporate Social Responsibility

In Latin America, Huawei plays an important role in providing green telecom equipment and bridging the digital divide with its leading and affordable solutions. Huawei introduced to Latin America to its low-power and highefficiency SingleRAN wireless network: base station occupies 75% less space and saves up to 80% of energy. Additional commitments to the social development in Latin America include:

  • Made monetary and equipment donations directly to rural areas and actively participated in the Peru (2007), Haiti (2010), and Chile (2010) earthquake disaster rescues and reconstruction efforts
  • Donated more than USD 30 million in equipment to local education organizations in Latin America, including universities in Brazil and the Education Department of Venezuela
  • In 2009, supported 12 schools in Venezuela. For example, the reconstruction efforts and donation of a computer lab to the Carlos Ramón Aponte School benefitted 1,500 high school students.
  • Since 2008, Huawei Colombia employees have donated materials and visit orphans in Bogota, in coorperation with the local fund, Parroquia San Vicente De Paul
  • In Brazil, Huawei actively contributes to public welfare and the local society, and participates in the local "Casa Hope" Project to help children with cancer
