Introduction

Huawei was first established in the United Kingdom in 2001, and was based in Whetstone, London. In December 2003, Huawei Technologies UK Co. Ltd. became the European Headquarters, and relocated to Basingstoke, Hampshire. Huawei established a multicultural working environment in which more than half of the staff is local.

Huawei has received an excellent response from the market, and will continue to expand its investment in the UK in the coming years. In addition, we are committed to attracting the best local experts to join us in the United Kingdom.

Training

To meet local training requirements, Huawei recently opened a state-of-the-art training centre at its European Headquarters in the UK. This will enhance our ability to deliver quality training throughout the UK / Ireland and European region.

Huawei also established a fully-functional, industry-leading Technical Assistance Centre (TAC) at its headquarters in Basingstoke, UK in August 2005, allowing Huawei to provide enhanced support services to the UK and Ireland market. The TAC is open round-the-clock, 365 days a year, and is fully supported by trained product specialist engineers, who are committed to ensuring that service promise commitments are met.

Customers

Some of Huawei's UK & Ireland customers include BT, Viatel, COLT, Tiscali, Fibernet, Evoxus, Opal Telecom, Smart Telecom, Centric Telecom and Gamma Telecom.

In December 2005, Huawei signed a contract with BT to deploy its multi-service access network (MSAN) and provide optical transmission products for the revolutionary 21st Century network in which BT will invest £10 billion over the next five years.
