FTTx O&M Solution

Pursuing "fast deployment and easy O&M", Huawei's FTTx O&M solution is able to integrate terminals, ONUs, ODNs, and OLTs for the entire lifecycle of an FTTx network. The solution also simplifies network deployments, efficiently provisions services, streamlines maintenance, and augments network optimizations.

Challenges

With the global development of FTTx, the FTTx network O&M has become a priority. Operators are presented with many challenges in network deployments, service provisioning, routine maintenance, and diagnosis because of the differences between new networks and traditional copper-line networks.

Unlike copper access networks that have simple one-to-one mapping relationships between terminals and CO ports, an FTTx network is a point-to-multipoint network and has complex relationships between terminals and CO ports. Therefore, existing IT systems do not support FTTx service provisioning.

FTTx networking is flexible; however, there is no fast fault diagnosis method. Furthermore, the ONU is located in a complex environment and there are many passive optical nodes, making it hard to locate a fault.

Moreover, FTTx network nodes have greatly increased, which creates challenges in filtering out invalid alarms, monitoring network performance, masking GPON/EPON differences, and performing unified O&M.

Our Solution

Huawei's FTTx O&M solution leverages more than 10 years of expertise in access-network O&M. The solution applies to the network planning; network deployment; service provisioning; routine maintenance; and network evaluation, optimization and expansion phases. This solution helps free operators from the above-mentioned O&M challenges.

In network planning, Huawei provides operators with a cost-effective solution that can adapt to network evolutions.

In network deployment and service provisioning, Huawei provides the U2000 and TMS1000 for easy site commissioning and automatic service provisioning.

In the network operation phase, Huawei's NMS manages both active FTTx devices and passive iODN devices. In this way, the NMS performs E2E management for the entire FTTx network, provides fault diagnosis based on fault symptoms, and quickly classifies and locates faults.

Huawei provides dedicated and professional services such as consulting in network evaluation, optimization, and expansion so that operators can continue to focus on operating networks even as their customer base continues to grow.

Applications & Benefits

Huawei FTTx O&M solution is currently servicing more than 30 world-leading operators, including France Telecom, Telekom Malaysia, China Telecom, China Unicom, and China Mobile. Huawei's expertise in global applications is a solid foundation on which operators can scale up their FTTx network deployments.
