Challenges

The fast growing bandwidth demand poses higher requirements on the core routers. Single-chassis core routers are lagging behind in terms of capacity, reliability and evolution. Operators are expecting an IP core router with higher port capacity, data transmission capability, routing convergence and smooth evolution.

Our Solution

With rich experience in both the routers and optical networks, Huawei has rolled out the industry-leading end-to-end (E2E) 100G solution. First applied on the long-distance backbone network, the 100GE line cards and ports are further extended to the backbone edge and mero network.

Through the100GE port-based NE5000E cluster routers and the OSN6800/8800 OTN system supporting “40/80-channel x 100G”, the backbone network can realize 100Gbit/s long-distance transmission. This is expected to further open the network and improve reliability, while enhancing network planning, construction and O&M performance. In addition, the network structure is greatly simplified on the backbone edge and metro networks, by connecting directly the NE5000E cluster routers to the 100GE ports.

Applications & Benefits

Based on the distributed hardware forwarding and non-blocking switching technology, the cluster router NE5000E features 40G/100G interface, carrier-class reliability, line-speed forwarding, smooth expansion and high scalability to face the future customers' requirement of the IP/MPLS backbone network.
