Huawei Commits to Driving Smart Digital Transformation at ITU Telecom World 2017

[Busan, South Korea, September 28, 2017] At ITU Telecom World 2017, Huawei is committed to driving smart digital transformation by proposing efficient ways to bridge the digital divide and urges governments, operators and ecosystem players to collaborate and establish a healthy environment.

"ICT is the cornerstone for the digital economic growth, and ICT infrastructure is key to bridging the digital divide in emerging markets. Enabling environment for ICT innovation and development with investment-friendly regulations and policies is highly expected," said Zhou Jianjun, Vice President of Huawei’s Carrier Business Group at the Ministerial Roundtable focusing on how public sector to support the transformation of the ICT.

Zhou pointed out that, "ICT infrastructure will empower operators to keep inventing and providing new services with unique features to each individual, industry and the society, in order to greatly improve national competiveness in the long term."

Dr. Mohamed Madkour, Vice President of Huawei's Wireless Network Marketing, expressed strong viewpoints at the Transformation of Telecom Operations session. "Transformation itself is not a destination. It's an ongoing journey of change to operators' personalities from the aspects of technology, business, and operations. Acceleration of this change is a fundamental prerequisite to achieving business sustainability."

Dr. Madkour further commented on the core assets of operators during transformation that, "Connectivity and cloud are the core assets for operators to innovate. Huawei solutions allow operators to unlock new business opportunities on a transformational journey."

Also, Dr. Madkour shared how 5G defines a new era of transformation pertaining to all industries, not just the potential applications for the telecom industry. Operators are advised to leverage these possibilities to attain new business growth. Huawei solutions are the necessary tools to provide an ecosystem with enabling platforms that help operators address the needs of diverse industries."

The theme of ITU Telecom World this year is "Smart Digital Transformation, Global Opportunities", and it focuses on how ICT can support the digital transformation.
