Emir of Kuwait Expresses Appreciation to Huawei at Meeting with Huawei Rotating CEO Guo Ping

[Kuwait, Oct.26, 2015] Huawei's Rotating CEO Guo Ping recently met with the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. During the meeting, the Emir gained a deeper understanding of Huawei's development and future plans in Kuwait, and acknowledged the company's local investment and contribution.

He said, "Huawei has done a great job in developing young people. A country's development is related to infrastructure construction and, more importantly, talent development. Huawei does not just profit from Kuwait: It helps us grow. Our government welcomes Huawei's efforts to help us realize our development strategy and bring us more technologies, creative ideas, and job opportunities for more of our young people."

Guo Ping thanked the Emir for his kind words, adding, "In the future, Huawei will continue to support Kuwait's development. We will work closely with local carriers and industry partners to drive the ICT strategy of the Kuwaiti government. As a responsible corporate citizen in Kuwait, Huawei will continue to give back to the local community, fulfilling our social responsibilities and offering young people more training and job opportunities. Through these initiatives, we aim to contribute even more to economic restructuring and growth in Kuwait."

Following his meeting with the Emir, Guo Ping met with the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, and other royal family members and senior government officials. During these meetings, Guo talked about Huawei's development and commitment to continue contributing to ICT development in Kuwait. The Kuwaiti government praised Huawei's efforts.

In the evening, over 360 VIP guests – including several ministers, senior government officials, and representatives of carriers and the oil and finance industries – attended the inauguration ceremony of Huawei's Kuwait subsidiary. Guo Ping, Yang Yougui (President of Huawei's Middle East Region), and Liu Yan (CEO of Huawei Kuwait) had in-depth talks with the guests.

Since its entry into the Kuwaiti market in 2005, Huawei has remained committed to delivering end-to-end high-quality solutions, products, and services to local carriers, enterprise customers, and consumers. Huawei is now the largest ICT provider in Kuwait. In the future, the company will strive to be a strategic partner for carriers in their transformation, a leader in providing enterprise ICT infrastructure, and a top smart device brand preferred and trusted by consumers.

Over the past decade, Huawei has contributed greatly to Kuwait's communications advancement and enthusiastically fulfilled its social responsibilities. In 2014, the company launched the Seeds for the Future program as part of its efforts to offer communications training for top Kuwaiti college students in China every year. The company also began to build the country's first ICT training center to develop more talent. In the future, Huawei will collaborate more closely with the Kuwaiti government, industry players, and universities to boost local ICT development.
