Huawei is a leader and major participant in the standardization of cloud computing and storage technologies inside and outside of China.

  • Huawei holds over 20 key positions in international standards organizations. These are as follows: SNIA TSC member; OASIS and INCITS board member; NFV/OPNFV TSC member; co-chair of OASIS Board, SNIA TSC, SNIA SMI, and Object Drive; ISO/IEC SC 27 rapporteur; OPNFV Multisite project manager; and Data Center Alliance deputy secretary general. In these positions, Huawei has influenced the future direction of these organizations.
  • Huawei is an active player in initiatives of international security standards. For example, it is at the helm of the CSA virtual security project. In ISO/IEC SC27, Huawei has initiated a security standards project and acted as a major player in it.
  • Huawei has initiated over 30 standards in organizations such as China's National IT Standardization Technical Committee, China Information Security Standardization Technical Committee, and China Communications Standards Association.

Huawei plays an active part in the O&M industry, and aims to push the IT industry forward. It has:

  • Introduced SNIA PlugFest to Asia and promoted interoperability testing on storage products in China.
  • Formed the Disaster Recovery Technology Alliance and facilitated the standardization of disaster recovery technology in the finance sector.
  • Led the formulation of standards and evaluation specifications for a Big Data platform used by China's Ministry of Public Security to detect criminals; helped develop and deploy technology in the police sector.

Huawei is a key contributor to open source organizations such as Open Stack, Linux Foundation, and Linaro.
