  • Outstanding Performance Award by Vodafone

    As a singular mark of recognition by the world's leading mobile operator, Vodafone awarded Huawei a 2007 Global Supplier Award citing delivery of highly competitive products and services across the group's network. Huawei was the only network equipment supplier to be awarded this specific accolade.

  • Global 4th Largest Patent Applicant

    According to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Huawei moved up 9 places to become the 4th largest patent applicant under the WIPO Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), with 1,365 applications published in 2007.

  • Enhanced Mobile Service

    In 2007, Huawei was awarded 45% of all new UMTS/HSPA contracts, garnering the company the prestige of global category leadership. Huawei has also become one of the top three suppliers in the global GSM market. Most notably, China Mobile awarded Huawei a 23.6% slice of a GSM group purchase project. In addition, Huawei's market-leading mobile softswitches now serve more than 670 million subscribers.

    Winning 44.8% of all new contracts in 2007, Huawei has also earned leadership of the global CDMA category. Besides, the company has deployed 12 commercial WiMAX networks around the world.

  • Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation

    By the end of 2007, Huawei had deployed over 100,000 GSM green base stations, saving approximately 570 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) or 170,000 tons of coal.

    Keeping ahead of mobile and broadband trends, Huawei provides operators with abundant fixed and mobile broadband terminal products. In 2007, Huawei shipped 10 million mobile broadband products, the most in the industry.

  • Committed to Cooperating with Industry Chain Partners

    Symantec and Huawei announced that the two companies are forming a joint venture company. The new company will develop and distribute world-leading security and storage appliances to global telecommunications carriers and enterprises.

    Huawei and Global Marine established a joint venture to deliver end-to-end competitive submarine network solutions to reliably deliver highly advanced global communication capabilities.

  • Provided USD 5 million cash plus equipment donation for the Tsunami-affected countries.
  • Selected by Optus Australia as a DSL partner to provide DSL-based access equipment capable of supporting high-speed data, voice (including Voice over IP), video multicasting and business services.
  • Selected as a preferred 21 Century Network("21CN") supplier by British Telecom to provide multi-service network access (MSAN) components and transmission equipment for the BT 21CN network.
  • Won the licence to produce and sell mobile phones to consumers in China.

2004

  • Established a joint venture with Siemens to develop TD-SCDMA mobile communication technology targeted for the China market.
  • Huawei Technologies won China Telecom's national backbone optimizing contract. The purpose of this project was to optimize Guangdong provincial 163 backbone network. According to the contract, Huawei Technologies high-end router NE5000 won 100% market share of the TSR procurement contract and successfully entered into two super nodes of the national backbone. Meanwhile, Huawei Technologies gigabit switching router NE80 won 75% market share in this project. Huawei Technologies signed a contract with China Telecom to build more than 1.2 million ADSL lines, which further consolidated the company's position as the biggest strategic partner of China Telecom. 
  • Awarded the "Most Promising Vendor of the Year, Asia Pacific, 2004" and "Asia Pacific Broadband equipment Vendor of the Year, 2004" by Frost & Sullivan, a global market research company that provides consulting information and intelligence on emerging high-technology and industrial markets. 
  • Selected by Emtel to commission the first African UMTS commercial network.
  • Secured a loan of USD 360 million with 29 banks over a three-year term to expedite the company's global development plans.
  • Selected to rollout a UMTS network for Dutch operator Telfort.

2003

  • Cisco Systems alleged that Huawei Technologies had infringed some of Cisco's technology patents. However, Cisco withdraw the lawsuit and both companies resolved all patent litigation, with each party paying for its own legal fees incurred.
  • Set industry record with the deployment of 100 million ports of C&C08 worldwide.
  • Established a joint venture with 3Com to deliver enterprise data network.
  • Certified as ISO 14001 compliant by DET NORSKE VERITAS (" DNV" ).
  • Successfully launched a nation-wide UMTS service for Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) in December, reinforcing Etisalat's position as a technology leader while enabling Etisalat to become the first organization in the Middle East and the Arab World to introduce a third generation network.

2002 

  • Recorded strong growth of 68% in international sales from USD 328 million in 2001 to USD 552 million in 2002 despite a global decline in the investment of telecom infrastructure by 50%.
  • Huawei Technologies passed TL9000 Quality Management System authentication by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. ("UL" )
  • Selected by China Mobile to launch the world's first mobile wireless LAN.

2001

  • Commercially deployed 10Gbps SDH system in Berlin of Germany. 
  • Achieved No.1 market share across Asia Pacific for the company's Optical Line Products, according to RHK.
  • Sold Avansys, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies to Emerson for USD 750 million.
  • Became a member of the International Telecommunications Union("ITU").

2000

  • Contracted sales exceeded USD 2.65 billion with overseas sales exceeded USD 100 million.
  • Established R&D centers in the Silicon Valley and Dallas of United States.

1999

  • Selected as the principal supplier for China Mobile's nationwide CAMEL Phase II compliant IN, currently the largest and most advanced network of its kind in the world.
  • Established Bangalore R&D centre, which achieved CMM level-4 accreditation in 2001 and CMM level-5 accreditation in 2003.

1998

  • Obtained patent for the product Digital Micro-Cellular Server Control Switcher.
  • Established Nanjing R&D center which achieved CMM Level 4 accreditation in June 2003.

1997

  • Launched GSM equipment.
  • Established joint R&D labs with Texas Instruments , Motorola, IBM, Intel, Agere Systems, Sun Microsystems, Altera, Qualcomm, Infineon and Microsoft. As of June 2005, Huawei Technologies has a total of 10 joint research labs. 
  • Since 1997, IBM, Towers Perrin, the Hay Group, PricewaterhouseCoppers("PwC")and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft("FhG") have been acting as Huawei Technologies' consultants respectively on process transformation, employee stock option plan, human resource management, financial management and quality control. We cooperate with these leading multinational consultancy firms to keep in line with the best practices in the industry.

1996

  • Launched HONET integrated access network and optix SDH equipment.
  • Won the first overseas contract from Hong Kong's Hutchison-Whampoa to provide fixed-line network products. 
  • Established Shanghai R&D center which successfully achieved CMM Level-5 Certification in 2004.

1995

  • Established the company's IPR (Intellectual Property Right)Department. 
  • Established Beijing R&D center which successfully achieved CMM Level-4 accreditation in 2003.
