Huawei donates maize meal to Kenyan IDP
NAIROBI, March 14, 2008 -- Huawei Technologies Co., LTD. Friday donated six tons of maize meal to the Kenya Red Cross to help the people who were internally displaced in Kenya's post-election turmoil.

At the donating ceremony, He Zhaomin, CEO of Huawei Technologies Kenya, said: "Kenya is in the midst of a healing process and it is our privilege to continue to support the internally displaced persons as they endeavor to rebuild their lives."

Zulekha Abass, business development manager of the Kenya Red Cross, thanked Huawei on behalf of the displaced people, saying the victims have a long way to go to recover the normal life.

More than 1,000 people were killed and about 350,000 others displaced in the national crisis triggered by the disputed presidential election held in the East African Country in December 2007.

The Kenyan government and the opposition signed late last month a power-sharing deal, which is highly expected to put a full stop to the turmoil and initiate the national reconciliation process.
