As shown in Figure 2, the ODN network construction which realizes optical cable coverage in the targeted area should focus on:

  • CO (Central Office) location decision;
  • The optical splitting structure and the optical splitter location decision;
  • The drop cable coverage realization in different buildings and various application scenarios.
  • The final target is to reach a balance among economy, practicability, flexibility, reliability, manageability, and maintainability for the project.

Huawei engineers analyze and summarize different building features and application scenarios all over the world, based on their understanding of the PON technology and the optical technology application, and work out:

  • Series of ODN solutions for high-rising, multi-stored business buildings and villas and the related products R&D and integration;
  • Service provision including network planning, detailed design, product integration, project implementation and subsequent operation and maintenance, based on Huawei's business experience.


In applications, the OLT may cover an area where different styles of construction such as high-rising, multi-stored buildings and villas exist. In this case, an integrated ODN solution based on the basic ODN solutions will be drawn up.
