Huawei's Next Generation Broadband Access Network (NG-BAN) Solution
With deep understanding of the broadband network and years of experience in the broadband field, Huawei designed the NG-BAN solution to meet the new requirements for broadband network development. The NG-BAN consists of three parts:
Intelligent terminals
Intelligent terminals include PC, various non-PC intelligent terminals and terminal software (such as the Home Gateway, Modem, IAD, STB, AP, BIT, ePhone). They support both in-house wireline and wireless (WLAN) cabling interfaces. Huawei provides a series of non-PC intelligent terminal products. This helps to lift any PC bottlenecks in broadband network development, so as to satisfy the users' needs for personalized networking and services.
Broadband Multi-service Access Devices
Broadband multi-services access devices feature high-performance and serialization. Huawei is making continuous efforts to improve the legacy SmartAX MA5100/MA5300 products. By expanding the dedicated video bus and optimizing the QoS capability, Huawei enhances its multi-service support and protects customers' investment.
Moreover, inheriting all the mature features and advantages of the MA5100 ATM DSLAM and MA5300 IP-DSLAM, Huawei launched the pioneering full-GE-based SmartAX MA5600 series broadband access devices. The MA5600 has the following features:
- Large capacity platform, 210G backplane, more than 1Gbps bandwidth in each slot, supporting 1,000 multicast channels.
- At least 30 Mbps bandwidth for each user, enough for any play services such as video/data/voice service.
- Modular design, providing multiple access methods flexibly, such as XDSL, LAN, FTTH and WiMax.
- Integration with NGN, supporting strict QoS guarantee and supporting AG through upgrading in the future.
- Large-capacity office (10,000 subscribers) realized through the "control frame plus subscriber frames" mode, featuring flat network, clear architecture and easy expansion.
Multiple service edge router (MSR)
BRAS will gradually be positioned downwards towards the end office (CO-BRAS). Besides the AAA function, the MSR provides QoS strategy proxy & execution function and the PE function. By separating the common Internet access traffic and the QoS-demanding traffic sent to the core network, the MSR realizes differentiated QoS through different MPLS VPNs. Huawei provides serialized MSR products such as the MA5200G, and the ISN8850/ESR885 to meet the needs for the next generation broadband access network.
Seamlessly integrated with the IP core network, the NG-BAN is part of the NGN network. It facilitates a carrier-class quality broadband network to provide broadband value-added services such as business user-oriented services and streaming services.
