Huawei to host Australias top ICT students from ATN universities in China's Silicon Valley
Huawei’s Seeds for the Future programme invests in the next generation of ICT professionals, training 10 top performing Australian students from ATN universities at its HQ in Shenzhen
Sydney, AUSTRALIA, 20 January 2015: Huawei Australia today announced the appointment of Leo Lynch as Channel Director for the Enterprise Business Group in Australia effective immediately. Mr Lynch will be responsible for the direction and growth of the company’s Enterprise Channel team. Based in Sydney, Mr Lynch will report to Daniel Lin, Huawei Enterprise Business Group Director.
Sydney, AUSTRALIA, 9 June 2016: Huawei Australia and the Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) have today announced the 10 students selected to be hosted in China as part of Huawei’s Seeds for the Future initiative, their most heavily invested CSR activity. Selected students across RMIT University (RMIT), Queensland University of Technology (QUT), University of Technology Sydney (UTS), University of South Australia (UniSA) and Curtin University will join senior Information and Communications Technology (ICT) lecturers on a two-week, hands-on learning experience in Shenzhen, China in July 2016.
In collaboration with the ATN, Huawei selected the top performing students to provide them the opportunity to experience life at the Huawei campus with around 60,000 employees based in Shenzhen, visit Huawei’s Research and Development labs, its Exhibition and Logistics Centres and gain valuable work experience in a global business environment.
“Seeds for the Future helps develop talent in Australia and encourages participation in the international ICT community,” said Jeremy Mitchell, Director of Corporate and Public Affairs at Huawei. “We are delighted to see this year’s female participation at 50 per cent. We believe that empowering women in the tech sector has a positive effect on our industry, boosts our economy and ensures Australia maintains a global competitive workforce in the future. We will continue to build our programme to ensure Australia’s best ICT students get this important global experience.”
ATN Executive Director, Renee Hindmarsh said: “Huawei’s Seeds for the Future programme is a fantastic opportunity for ATN students to interact with state-of-the art technology, get first-hand experience and learn vital multicultural business skills within the global ICT sector.”
