[Gold Coast, Australia, October 23–26, 2017] Huawei today unveiled its smart site solution to global customers at INTELEC 2017 on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, with a view to further lowering the OPEX.
Huawei delivers customized solutions for its partners in light of the issues in energy consumption, power modernization, site monitoring, and lithium battery use facing telecom carriers and professional communications service providers. Huawei conducts in-depth exchanges with customers for win-win results and promotes the concept and means of smart sites and appropriate battery strategy to maximize customer benefits.
Communicating with customers
Emerging technologies drive the growth of the communications industry and elicit more diverse business ecosystems. Nowadays, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) facilitate the development of all industries, including governments, transportation, energy, and media. Therefore, innovations in energy infrastructures will provide more reliability and flexibility in safeguarding telecom energy in the future. Over 300 VIP customers, including 60 plus telecom carriers, and communications equipment and service providers worldwide, attended the exhibition. During the exhibition, Telstra、Vodafone、Vocus from Australia, Spark、Vodafone from New Zealand, Turkcell from Turkey, NTT FACILITIES fromJapan, Axiata from Malaysia carried out a further discussion on how to lower the OPEX, improve the operation potential, and better utilize the lithium batteries.

Make sites visible to improve energy efficiency of operations: With Huawei's efficient solutions, Vodafone implements energy scheduling, site efficiency SEE analysis, and intelligent management to optimize site-level energy efficiency. Vodafone also uses the intelligent network management system NetEco to implement remote management, analyze the big data, provide expert diagnosis, as well as prevent faults and interruptions to improve network-level energy efficiency.
Bob gave a real example: Since 2017, Vodafone Australia is working with Huawei for a site monitoring trial. The target of this trial is to realize that Huawei site monitoring units gather all the site information, such as fan running status, as well as indoor and outdoor temperatures for controlling the starting and stopping of site air conditioners, and remote battery test for raising alarms. In addition, all the information can be transferred in-band and otherwise.
Use a new battery solution to lower site power consumption: In terms of site power optimization, lithium batteries with a long service life and high cycle performance are used to supply power or store energy depending on the electricity fees in peak or valley periods to save electricity fees and reduce the site TCO.
These two simple efforts made by Vodafone Australia seem to only lower the OPEX. In fact, they constitute the fundamental objectives of the transformation of the energy industry. Based on customer needs and investment budgets and focusing on continuous improvement of product efficiency as well as site E2E operation efficiency, Huawei with its smart site solution helps global telecom customers achieve robust growth in the future.
