Huawei and Australian Technology Network of Universities Announce Student Recipients For China Experience

[Melbourne, Australia, June 23, 2015] Huawei Australia and the Australian Technology Network of Universities (ATN) today announced the students selected for the opportunity to participate in the Huawei undergraduate program: Seeds for the Future.

The students participating in the Seeds for the Future program will join a global network of undergraduate students to visit Huawei’s headquarters (HQ) and R&D Facilities to explore first-hand the innovation coming out of Huawei, as well as learn about Chinese Culture.

10 students were selected from ATN member universities RMIT, UTS, Curtin, UniSA, QUT and an additional three students from ANU. The students were gathered in Melbourne today for a pre-trip briefing by John Brumby, Huawei Australia Board Member and ATN Executive Director, Renee Hindmarsh.

The students were selected under careful criteria to represent Australia in the global program. They have achieved tertiary rankings which place them in the top 5% of the nation when entering their bachelors’ degrees. The students are:

ATN, Executive Director, Renee Hindmarsh said, “The ATN’s aim is to help secure Australia’s reputation as a clever country and contribute to its social and economic wealth. China plays an important role in this mission with 1 in 4 international students choosing to study at an ATN university.”

The program is a valuable investment in cultivating talent and introduces students to world-class technologies that will become the future engine in our ICT ecosystem.”

“The ATN have enabled Huawei Australia to indentify Australia’s ICT leaders of tomorrow. This program goes a long way to close the knowledge gap which exists between what is learned in the classroom and the skills necessary in the real world,” he said.

ATN and Huawei will identified 30 students over the next three years from ATN’s member network RMIT, UTS, Curtin, USA, and QUT to participate in Huawei Seeds for the Future.
